Artemis Chase was born in 2001 in Portland, Oregon. She is the alter ego of Michael Dixon, the man behind the make-up. Artemis quickly realized she needed something more than rural Oregon and in 2003 she headed east for the grit and glamour NYC nightlife. During her 4 years in the fast paced and occasionally drug addled NYC scene Artemis was widely celebrated for her realism in female impersonation and her luminous personality. Always seeking reinvention and new stages Artemis made the difficult decision to leave Gotham for the Golden Gate. Upon arriving in San Francisco Ms. Chase truly emerged as the entertainer we admire today. Her unique style, born of two very different cities and drag cultures, has been honed into the graceful, stylish, theatrical and sometimes trashy persona that we all know and love. She holds numerous titles, awards and crowns and has worked tirelessly for various non-profit organizations whenever possible. Artemis currently resides in Portland and when she isn’t folding laundry in her Prada sling-backs she can be found tearing up the stages of local nightclubs and bars always seeking to bring something new and unexpected to every performance.
